Brother Albert Dennis Hampton was born in Vienna (Dooly County), Georgia, on July 18, 1937. At the age of two, in 1939, he moved with his family to Orlando, Florida.
Brother Hampton attended college and later enlisted in the United States Army, serving from 1956 to 1976. He reenlisted and continued his service until 1987, stating that he wanted to make the Army his career. During his years of service, he attained the rank of Chief Warrant Officer III and served his country worldwide. After his service in the Army he proceeded to a career as a civil servant. He married his sweetheart, Shirley Armstrong, in 1958, and four sons were born from this union. Brother Albert and Sister Shirley relocated to Spring Hill, Florida, in 1997, where he remained in his home until he passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, January 22, 2026.
Brother Hampton leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of 68 years, Shirley Hampton.
He is also survived by his children: Alton Dennis Hampton of East Orange, NJ; Jeffrey Hampton of Oak Ridge, TN; Terry Hampton of Staten Island, NY; Anthony Hampton of Las Vegas, NV; and Judy Hampton of Wildwood, FL. He is further survived by his sister, Mattie Valion of Rochester, NY, as well as his sister-in-law, Cathy Lang, and brother-in-law, Dexter Lang. He is also survived by his daughters-in-law, Gail Hampton, Sharifa Hampton, and Janice Hampton.
He leaves behind his grandchildren: LaDeva Hampton, Brandon Lamar Hampton, Kimberley Hampton, Shannon Hampton, Arielle Hampton, Kavi Luca, Zachary Hampton, and Terry Hampton Jr.; his great-grandchildren: Jaí Hampton, Kaí Hampton, Tiana Griffith, Brandon J. Hampton, and Sariyah Hampton; and his great-great-grandchildren: DéMauri Murray, Nazir Hampton, and Christen Marshall.
He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews.
Brother Hampton was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Henry Hampton and James Hampton; his sisters, Lexi Mae Childs and Hazel Cannon; and his granddaughter, LaKeva Hampton Griffith.
Religious Affiliation:
West Mastin Lake Baptist Church, where he served as Sunday School Superintendent and as a deacon. Upon moving to Hernando County in 1998, Brother Hampton became a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church along with his wife, where he remained until his passing.
Civic Affiliation:
33rd Degree Mason; Shriner’s Club; Association of Retired Regulars; and the Governmental Study Task Force for the City of Huntsville, AL.

The Family will form the Funeral Cortege on Saturday January 31 at the family home at 12 noon
