Amos W. Hopkins was born February
13, 1945 in Crystal River, Florida, and reared by his late parents Oscar “O.H.”
Hopkins and Hazel Hopkins. Amos was the eldest son of nine (9) children born of
this union. Amos attended the local schools in Citrus County and was a graduate
of Booker T. Washington High School of Inverness, Florida.
At a very young age, Amos
obtained employment at the Winn Rexall Pharmacy. In addition, he also worked at
the Crystal River Crab House and the Florida Power Nuclear Plant while helping
maintain the family business of logging alongside his Father and brother,
Arthur Lee.
When Amos was not working, he
explored his adventurous side. Amos
adopted the hobby of enjoying race cars. He notably enjoyed his favorite cars
the 1964 GTO PONTIAC and GRAND TERINO. He could also be seen around town
on his Motor Scooters and loved to tinker/repair his vehicles and other’s
vehicles who enjoyed the same adventurous motorsports as he did. His love of the outdoors helped him embrace
the love of dogs and he had his own breed of dogs on the family farm.
Amos’s Father, Mother, three (3)
sisters (Mildred Freeman, Vera Baker and Hazetta Hopkins-Jones), one (1)
brother (Arthur Lee Hopkins) and eldest daughter (Eugenia R. Hopkins) preceded
him in death. A proud Dad, Amos is survived
and mourned by daughter, Michelle Richardson and three (3) sons, Aric A.
Hopkins (Sheila), Simeon B. Hopkins (Keyitha) and William R. Richardson all of
Crystal River, FL. He leaves to mourn sisters, Kay Thompson, Betty Beeler and Arelia
Parker all of St. Petersburg, FL, Katherine Chisolm of Mt. Vernon, NY , FL. A
Special Uncle, Amos leaves to mourn Nephew, Rodney “Lips” Hopkins of St.
Petersburg, FL and Kenyetta “Eyes” Hopkins of Mt Vernon, NY. He will be dearly missed by a host of Cousins, Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews
and Extended Family.

Wake/Viewing - Friday November 11, 2022 from 5pm to 7pm at Mt Olive Missionary Baptist Church 2105 North Georgia road Crystal River Fl 34429
Funeral Cortege- The Family will form the Funeral Cortege on Saturday November 12, 2022 at 657 North East 10th street at 10:15 am.
Graveside Service- Saturday November 12, at 11:00 am Crystal Memorial Gardens
