Dwight Palance Stephens was born November 25, 1961 to the late Harold “Buck” and Minnie B. Redding Stephens. Born and raised in Brooksville, he graduated from Frank W. Springstead High, Class of 1979. After graduating high school, Dwight followed two of his older brothers to Albany State University.
Dwight or Palance, family and friends would often call him by both his first and middle name, was outgoing with a big heart and a great cook. He was well known for his Bar-B-Que. Palance traveled and touched many lives near and far. He loved his family and work family at Johnson Controls. To know him was to love him. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Harold and Minnie Stephens; sister, M. Denise Paige; brothers, Harold G. Stephens, Clinton A. Stephens, Earl Washington, and Charles Washington and his best friend Jerome Brown.
Dwight leaves a legacy of love and laughter to : his devoted wife Latanya Stephens; (1) son, Omar Stephens; (4) daughters, Tiara Jackson, Joscelyn Stephens, Jasmin Stephens and D’Whitney (Rashad) Posey; (1) step-son, Charles Jernigan; (1) step-daughter, Latoya Jernigan; a caring sister, Harriet Willis; (2) brothers, Stanley Stephens and Eugene (Detrice) Redding; (2) sisters; Gloria Harris and Martha (Joseph)Maner; grandchildren, Aaron Jackson, Camille Germain, MaKyla Grant, Ar’Neris Mcghee, Rashad Posey Jr., Sahmaya Posey, Artime Marin Jr., Quinton, Jeremiah, Keyana, Cherish, Choyce, Jalon, Honesty, Justin and Josiah; (1) aunt, Hattie Redding; (2) God-daughters, Antayvia Lawson and Tiffany Mobley; Mother-in-law, Mary Stafford; (1) sister-in-law, Generald (Tony) Kelley; (5) brother-in-laws, Gregory (Sherina) Stafford, Benjamin Stafford, Joseph (Tracey) Stafford, Reshard Stafford, and Dian West; (10) first cousins, Lavern Redding, Madalyn (Alfred) Holmes, Maxine O’Banner, Loretta (Daryl) Bailey, Claudia Griffin, Michael (Nadine) Redding, Antoinette (Victor) Jackson, Russell Bradwell Jr., Tommy (Alphia) Hughes and Deborah (Charles) Martin; Special cousins, Louis Mobley, William Hicks, Nataniel Hicks, James Hicks Jr.; Special friends, Antonio Lawson, Daymond Taylor, Bruce Jones, Howard Holland Sr., Anthony Owens and Kevin Roberts. He further leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and caring friends.
