Lionel Leonard Walker, Sr.
Sunrise: November 13, 1954 Sunset: October 14, 2025
Lionel Leonard Walker was born on November 13, 1954 in Leesburg, Florida to the
late Retha Mae Reese. His mother later married Deacon David Crummer, who made
a lasting impact on Lionel’s life. From an early age Lionel accepted Christ as his personal
savior and remained a faithful believer throughout his life. Lionel was a loving husband,
father, friend, and churchman. In June of 1974, Lionel married his high school
sweetheart, Sharon Mizell and later that year in December, they gave birth to their
first child, Lionel Jr. By 1988, the loving couple would eventually give birth to two more sons;
Samuel and Wesley.
Not only was Lionel a dedicated husband and father, he was also a devoted member
of the Church of God In Christ, Inc. where he served faithfully at his local church,
City of Refuge Church of God In Christ, District, and Jurisdiction. He began preaching
at the age of twenty and would become an Ordained Elder by the age of twenty-one.
His ministry spanned over the course of fifty years with focus on evangelism, outreach
and deliverance. In 2024 he reached the pinnacle of his ministry when he was
appointed as the Vice President of Evangelism for the Jurisdiction of Southwest Florida.
During the course of his secular career, he was a mechanic, route sales driver,
insurance agent, and sales and carpet installation coordinator. He was very adept at
figuring out the working mechanics of cars and electronics. His favorite pastimes
were spending time with his family and friends, watching football, tinkering with
cars, and cooking.
After the untimely transition of his wife Sharon, Lionel began courting his beloved
Leila P. Clarke and on October 10, 2020, the two would join in holy matrimony. They
have spent the last five years building their life and ministry together.
Lionel is preceded in death by his parents, Retha Mae and David Crummer, brother,
Madison Mosely, and his life-long love, Sharon Anita.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories, his devoted and loving wife, Leila P. Walker;
