Obituary
Georgie Lee Wilson was born March 16th, 1936 in Dunnellon, FL to the union of Rev. George and Hattie Cox. Georgie was the sixth of 13 children born to this union. As a child, she converted and baptized at an early age under the pastorate Rev. Jake Legree of Citra, , Florida, whom pastored The Second Bethel Missionary Baptist Church of Dunnellon, FL. She attended the local and public schools of Dunnellon, graduating with the 1955 class of Booker T. Washington High School. After graduating high school, she relocated to Crystal River, where she met and married Elijah Wilson and began her family. In 1956, Georgie joined Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church under the late Rev. G. W. Dobson where she attended until her health would no longer allow her to. Mrs. Georgie was well known throughout the community as she worked many years in the restaurant industry, recently retiring in 2018. Georgie loved to cook for family gatherings, there was no spread like Mrs. Georgie's spread.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Rev. and Mrs. George Cox; her husband, Elijah Wilson, 6 brothers, Willie James Cox, B.J. Cox, J.B. Cox, Eugene Cox, Leo Cox and Alonzo Cox; 1 sister, Alma Nelson; 2 daughters, Patricia Neal and Angela Hill; 2 grandchildren, Brian Wilson and Tony Richardson.
She leaves to cherish her memories: 2 sons, Melvin Wilson and Greg Wilson, 1 daughter, , Ella Mae Wilson all of Crystal River, FL; 1 step daughter, Clara Parker of Miami, FL; 2 son-n-laws, Maglee Neal of Crystal River, FL and Joe Hill of Ocala, FL; a loving and devoted sister, Mary Jones of Crystal River, FL; 1 sister-n-law, Celestine Cox; 10 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and sorrowing friends; 1 special friend (like a daughter) Cecillia Tyson of Crystal River, FL. Mrs. Georgie kept many children from the community feeding them and making sure they were bathed and ready for bed, to many to name.
