Henes "Duke" Washington

• Henes Washington Jr. was born in Brooksville Florida to the late Catherine Joyce Washington and the late Henes Washington Sr. on July 2, 1966. He was called home on February 15, 2022. 

  He attended Hernando High School,  and Job Corps where he received his diploma and several certificates to include culinary arts and  carpentry. He was also a member of the Fredrick Kelly Elks Lodge #12. Henes enjoyed cooking and entertaining, he loved people. If he  touched your life  you know he gave sound advice and he was the BEST Barbeque Grill Master in all of Florida. He was loved dearly by his family, friends, and many loved ones. 

  He was a loving father, caring brother, dependable uncle, great cousin, and wonderful friend. He was preceded in death by mother Catherine Washington, father Henes Washington, and son Devonta Washington. 

  He leaves to cherish his memories, his beloved children: Xavier Anderson, Nikita Washington, Eliakim Reese, Serenity Washington, and Adorian Harris. His grandchildren: Ni’kia Harris, Da’trevon Washington, Davi’on Lamar Washington, Eliakim Reese Jr., Gianna Anderson, Tianna Anderson, and Shamya Fogel.  His Siblings: Nadine Washington, Margaret Hunt, Josephine Smith (Herbert Smith), Kary Washington (Patty Cummings) and Aaron Washington. His Nieces and Nephews:  Markeeta Lee-Nelson(Shelton Nelson), Brittany Washington, Javia Washington, Tia Washington, Shakari Washington, Autumn Washington, Brianna Washington, Herbert Smith, Quintin Smith, Jarvis Smith, Kary Washington, Darius Washington, Levarus Washington.  And a Host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and special friends. 

  Henes Washington touched so many lives with his gentle spirit, kindness, generosity, and unconditional love. Henes knew the lord and was a God Fearing man. As this family’s calm in the storm the Lord truly called home an Angel. He was a beautiful soul inside and out, he will be greatly missed and cherished, we wanted to keep him here with us, but God had the last say.

  Interment- Spring Hill African American Cemetery
