James Bernard Shannon III, affectionately known as “Jay” or “Lil Jay” was born April 22, 1995, in Spring Hill, FL to Anita Burgess and James Bernard Shannon, Jr. Jay attended and received his education in the Hernando County School District as well as the Wake County School District in North Carolina. His occupation consisted of being an iron worker and a construction worker in which he also completed his certification in welding.
Filled with love for family, Jay welcomed his only child Princess Milani Shannon. Jay was best known for his compassion for people and interest for animals, fishing, dirt bikes and motorcycles. Jay’s fun, humorous and loving personality will be greatly missed.
Jay leaves to cherish his memories: one daughter, Milani Shannon of Fayetteville, NC; mother, Anita Burgess (Emery); father James B. Shannon, Jr.; Pops, Ruo-Shon Thomas; Grandparents: Shirley Burgess and Johnny Burgess, Jr.; great grandparent, Bernice McKay; one sister, T’iaja Becton; two brothers: Kavon Shannon and Trayonn Thomas; aunts: Kimberly Burgess-Pinkett (Malek), Winnie Burgess-Owens (Will), Joann Goddard (Ishmel), Jada Burgess, Monica Shannon and LaFreda Shannon; uncles: Victor Roberts, Johnny Burgess III, John Burgess and Demetrius Shannon; Godparents: Gene and Coyitita Henry; God sisters: Gelyia & Kyla Henry, Rickera Williams and Cheyanne Buie; God brothers: Gene Henry, Jr. and Tayvon Brown; God Nieces: Ca’Myia Henry and De’Asia Lewis God Nephew, Alvin Delaine III; special friends: Dante Cooper, Georgio Mayfield, Tyren Chavis and a host of great aunts, great uncles, cousins and friends.
Flowers, Cards and Condolences may be received at The J.T. Campbell Funeral Home on Thursday July 11th from 9:30 am to 3pm.
Visitation 1 hour prior to the Celebration of Life at The New Hope Missionary Baptist Church from 11am to 12 noon. On Friday July 12th.
