Obituary
Late Brother Matthew L. Davis
“I waited patiently for the Lord; And He inclined unto me, and heard my cry.” Psalm 40:1
To be absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord! Matthew finished his race here on earth, Monday morning @ 5:50 AM, March 30, 2026, at Cornerstone Hospice, Sumterville, Florida.
Matthew was born on February 22, 1955 to the LD Leonard and Jessie (Wormerly) Davis in Uniontown, AL.
He moved to Brooksville, FL in the early 1970s. Although he did not have a high level of formal education, he had a master’s degree in “Common Sense”.
Matthew was gifted with abilities that enabled him to effectively work jobs that
required specialized skill and training.
As a mechanic, there were not many cars that he could not repair. Matthew also showed his masonry skills as he worked side by side with his brother, the Late Pastor Frank Davis, Sr., Founder and Owner Frank Davis Concrete and Masonry, Inc.
Matthew had a compassionate and loving heart for everyone, especially those experiencing car mechanical problems.
He enjoyed spending time with friends and family playing dominos, especially with first cousins (Leon, Jimmie, Sr.,
and Joseph Leonard). He was a pretty good player. He also enjoyed fishing. Matthew will be greatly missed!
Matthew was preceded in death by; (4) Brothers; (James, Andrew, Leo, and Pastor Frank Davis), (7) Sisters; (Ida Williams, Mary Chamber, Dora Williams, Annie Bell Davis, Joseph, Jesston, and Vera), (2) special aunts, (Ethel
Wormerly-Leonard and Mary Lee (James) Paige), and (1) very special friend, Irene Dunlap.
Matthew leaves a legacy of love, laughter, and precious memories to (4) sisters, Annie Mae Norfleet and Lizzie (John) Davison, both of Uniontown, AL, Willie Ann Davis of South Fallsburg, NY, Leola (Nathaniel) Carter of Tuscaloosa, AL; (1) brother, Johnny (Tecra) Davis of Middletown, NY;
brother-in-law, Robert Williams and sister-in-law, Cassandra Davis, both of Brooksville, FL; and one special niece, Latricia (kizzy) Williams of Tuscaloosa,
AL.
He further leaves a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and caring friends.
