Morlon Jenkins Jr. Obituary

On June 24, 1983, Morlon Tony Jenkins Jr., affectionately known as TJ or Tony, enter the world and truly lived life with the wind beneath his wings. He carried a spirit of joy and lightness wherever he went, always ready with a joke, a warm smile, or a hearty laugh. TJ had a gift for making people feel seen and loved, whether through his humor, his stories, or his self-proclaimed titles of “grill master,” or “the funniest one in our family” (and he still isn’t the funniest one), which he wore with pride and playfulness. His presence brought comfort, laughter, and unforgettable memories to all who knew him.

After graduating high school, TJ wasted no time chasing his dreams—leaving home just one week later to begin what would become a proud and fulfilling lifelong military career. His journey took him from state to state, where he made lasting friendships and touched countless lives with his warmth and easygoing nature. Meeting new people came naturally to TJ, and he left a little light wherever he went.

Two years ago, he returned home to be closer to his family, a decision that brought him and his loved one’s great joy. But true to his adventurous spirit, retirement never meant slowing down for TJ. He was always on the move, seeking out new experiences and embracing every opportunity to keep life exciting.

TJ leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. He is survived by his devoted father, Morlon Tony Jenkins Sr., his mother, Lorna Birch, and his caring bonus mom, Retta Knox. He was a beloved husband to Sabrina Jenkins, and a proud father to Trevon, Devonte, Markell, Jeremiah, Maleah, and Mariah Jenkins, and son-in-love, Nicolas Rios-Scott. He was a wonderful nephew to his uncle; Nehemiah Jenkins, Jr. (Gwendolyn) and aunt Annie Faison.

TJ shared a special bond with his favorite sister, Katie Lowery, and his brother-in-law, Kevin Lowery. He was not only a devoted son, husband, father, and brother, he was also the best uncle anyone could ask for. He shared a joyful bond with his nieces, Bailee and Brynlee Lowery, showering them with love, laughter, wisdom, trivia questions, and unforgettable memories.

His life was enriched by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, dear friends, battle buddies, and coworkers who will forever hold his memory close.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Nehemiah and Ruth Jenkins, his uncle Aldrich Faison, Great-Aunts Earnestine Scriven and Martha Joyner, and his loyal companion, Snug the dog.

TJ’s spirit, kindness, and unwavering love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His presence in all our lives was a gift that we will forever cherish.

"Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day… unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed, and very dear."
