Mother Alice Mae Rooks
February 7, 1935 – September 27, 2025
Alice Mae Rooks, a beloved and cherished soul, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on February 7, 1935, in Athens, Alabama, Alice was a woman of immense love, compassion, and strength. Her presence left an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Alice moved to Brooksville, Florida, in 1955, where she built a life filled with hard work and dedication. In September of 1985, she married William Rooks, with whom she shared many meaningful years. She retired as an environmental technician at Holiday Inn, where she was known for her reliability, strong work ethic, and warm spirit.
Alice was a devoted member and church mother at Victorious Church of God by Faith, where her faith and leadership deeply impacted her church family. Her life was a testament to resilience, faith, and unconditional love. She touched countless lives with her wisdom, generosity, and open heart. Her strength was remarkable, and her faith unshakable.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Ora Bell Carr; her son, Arthur Summerlin; her daughter, Rosita Summerlin Harmon; and her siblings, John Carr, Bertha Smith, and Hosie Carr.
Alice's memory will be lovingly cherished by her children: Edward Summerlin, Juanita Harris (Robert), and Herbert Smith (Josephine); her sister, Mary Jackson; and her close friend, Sandra Ross.
She was the proud and loving grandmother of many, including:
Robert Harris, Jr., Eric Harris (Trudy), Connie Harris, Karen Harris, Markeeta Sumerlin, Markee Sumerlin, Richelle Jones, Herbert Smith, Jr., Quientin Smith, Jarvis Smith, Rozalyn Stephens, Alicia Womack (Paul), Emmanuel Sumerlin (Chante), Arthur Sumerlin III, Tara Sanders, Ericka Greene (Parker), Latoya Nathan, Edward(Tonia), Edwina, and Alicia Southall.
In addition to her grandchildren, Alice was blessed with a large and loving extended family, including numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She celebrated their joys, supported their dreams, and passed on to them the values of love, faith, and perseverance.
Her legacy lives on through each of them. The bond they shared with her will never be forgotten.
Alice Mae Rooks will be dearly missed, but her light will forever shine in the hearts of those who loved her.
Flowers - May Be received on Friday October 3, from 9am to 2pm at The J.T. Campbell Funeral Home and Cremation Services Macedonia Chapel.
Funeral Cortege- Will form at The Family home on 27302 Dale Avenue Brooksville Fl on Saturday October 4, 2025 at 10:15 am.
Celebration of Life is scheduled for Saturday October 4, 2025 ,11:00 am at Mt Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church.
