Obituary
Annie Merl Elliott was born on August 31, 1938, in Ashburn, Georgia, to the late Minister Richard Hudson, Sr. and the late Missionary Alice Hudson. Her loving parents later relocated the family to Brooksville, Florida, where she attended Moton High School. Annie was the second of ten children, five girls and five boys. She was raised in the New Jerusalem Church of God in Brooksville, where she gave her life to Christ at an early age. Annie was a gifted cook who took great joy in preparing Sunday dinners and meals for her entire family. She was the proud mother of three children: James (Gwen) of Fort Lauderdale, the late Belinda Elliott Wood, and her beloved daughter Pamela Loder of Brooksville. Annie adored her six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, with whom she loved spending quality time and for whom she enjoyed shopping. She was an avid sports enthusiast and faithfully attended sporting events to support her children, brothers, and grandchildren. Annie retired after 38½ years of dedicated service with the Hernando County school district in Brooksville. She was an outstanding Environmental Service Technician who worked tirelessly to keep Hernando High School immaculate. In retirement, she dedicated her time to her village-- her community, church, family and loved ones. And her village loved and cherished her. Special thanks to Annie’s full-time caregiver, Josephine Rodriguez, who showed genuine love, compassion and empathy as she cared tirelessly for Annie every day. Her labor of love was unwavering and appreciated by Annie, her daughter Pamela and the entire family! A special “Thank You!” Ilan, Dianne, Shirley, Margaret and Lisa.
Annie was preceded in death by her father, Minister Richard Hudson, Sr.; her mother, Missionary Alice Hudson; her brothers Deacon Richard (Catherine) Hudson, Jr., Pastor Freddie Lee Hudson (Annie Pearl), Johnnie Lee (Lois) Hudson, and Willie Gene Hudson (Sabrina); and her sisters Christine Taylor, Mary (Charles) Griffin, and Ruby Revell. She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved son Oscar James (Gwen) Elliott; her devoted daughter Pamela Loder; her siblings Alice Mae Pollard (Marshall) of Apopka and Ricardo (Althea) Hudson; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
Annie’s warm smile, generous spirit, and loving legacy will forever remain in the hearts and minds of all who knew and loved her. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Mother Lena Bell who is a lifelong special friend.
