A Time To Be Born/ A Time to Depart for Eternal Rest
Delores James Wilson was born December 23, 1934 in Inverness, Florida to Robert and Irene James.
She departed this life, on Wednesday August 13, 2025 at Avante at Inverness.
Preceded in Death
Delores was preceded in death by her father, Robert E. James; mother: Irene James; 1st husband: A.G. Gibbs, Jr.; 2nd husband, L.C. Wilson; brothers, Clarence E. James and Andrew L. James; son, GySgt. Lawrence E. Gibbs.
A Time to Live and Work
Delores attended Booker T. Washington High School and graduated Co-Salutatorian. She was employed by Dr. Merrill Osterhout for many years. She later retired from Bank of America. Some of her accomplishments were BTW Class president, secretary of Inverness Little League baseball, taught many young people music lessons, election poll worker and served as City Councilwoman to complete her husband term.
In Retrospect
Delores James Wilson started playing the piano at the age of 13. She was the musician for both Greater Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church and St. James A.M.E. Church. She served faithfully for many years dedicating her life to praising and serving our Lord and Savior. She was converted in her early years at Greater Mt. Carmel Baptist Church but later joined St. James A.M.E. Church where she served in many positions. She was local and area YPD directors, steward, trustee, Lay president, Superintendent and teacher of Sunday School, and offices at the Orlando District Conference level.
A Time to Mourn:
Delores leave to cherish her memories son, A. G. “Ricky” Gibbs III,(Monica) and Yvonne Gibbs, (Tyrone), 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grands, 2 great great grands, sister, Barbara Jackson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends.
