Mamie Lue Poe was born on June 12th, 1930 in Inverness Florida to the union of the late Ruby Jackson and Johnny Jackson Sr. Mamie Lue was the fifth born of six children. Her siblings included Johnny Jackson (Bonnie), Willie B. Pender (Albert), Thelma Brown, Margarite Felton (Dan) - who all proceeded her in death and her brother Richard Jackson (Barbara). She attended public school in Inverness, Florida.
Mamie Lue was married to Wesley Poe Jr. who proceeded her in death and had 6 children. James Poe- who proceeded her in death, Johnny Poe - who proceeded her in death, Janet Poe-who proceeded her in death, Rosezell Bellamy (James Bellamy- her forever best friend who proceeded her in death), Laurastine Lockely (Robert Lee Lockely) and Madeline Jenkins.
Mamie Lue accepted the lord as her savior at a very early age. Attending Greater Mount Carmel Baptist Church, Mamie was a dedicated member. During her early years of life, Mamie taught bible class and spent her time at home as a loving house wife.
She loved to sing, read the bible, cook and bake biscuits. She also enjoyed catching gophers and spending time walking the railroad tracks. Every June starting in 1974, Mamie enjoyed traveling to Detroit. She looked forward to flying to Michigan for her 1 month visit to see her Detroit family.
Sadly, on October 6th, 2021, Mamie Lue Poe made her transition to be with her father at the glorious age of 91. She leaves behind to cherish in her memory, her daughters Rosezell, Laurastine and Madeline; her brother Richard (Barbara); 14 grand kids; a host of great grandkids, great great grand kids, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
After 20 long years, she has been reunited with her husband.
Flowers may be received on Thursday October 28, from 9am to 3pm at The J.T. Campbell Funeral home 210 west Jefferson street Brooksville Florida 34601.
Visitation on Friday October 29, from 3pm to 4pm at The Greater Mt Caramel Missionary Baptist church.
Celebration of Life to be held on Friday October 29 at 4pm. Greater MT Caramel Missionary Baptist church.
Interment- Scheduled to be private.
