Obituary
Norman (Uncle Bubba) Scriven entered this world on March 19, 1956, the son of Louis and Earnestine Scriven. Norman was the seventh of eight children to this union. He was a lifelong resident of Crystal River, FL. He loved his city, his community, his God, and most of all his family. Although Norman did not have any children of his own, he certainly thought he was the daddy of ALL his nieces and nephews.
Norman was a proud graduate of Crystal River High School and a dedicated employee of Winn Dixie. After retiring from Winn Dixie, Norman did not sit home long before he began a new journey as a maintenance technician at Crystal River Mall. Norman would often reminisce about his time at his jobs telling stories of various interactions between him and customers. Because of Norman’s welcoming spirit, he knew EVERYONE in Citrus County.
When he finally retired from the workforce, he did not retire from service. He remained faithful to taking care of his beloved mother, Mother Earnestine. He was the community chauffeur to family, friends, and especially his mother’s elderly friends. His real passion was his interactions with his nieces and nephews. Whenever he had the opportunity to brag about them, he did just that.
Norman was preceded in death by his father, Louis Scriven; his sister, Carolinda Scriven Smith; his brothers, Lorenzo and Ernest Bernard Scriven; his favorite sister-in-law, Mary Hollis Scriven; special brother-in-law, Nelson Hopkins; his uncle, James Faison; his aunt, Ruth Jenkins; his special nephews, Isaac Hopkins and Devon Scriven. He leaves to cherish his memory and legacy: Mother Earnestine Scriven Schlueter; brothers - Lewis (Patricia) Scriven, Melvin (Carither) Scriven, Edgar (Vera) Scriven; sister - Erma (Larry) Summerlin; sister-in-law Ros Scriven; aunts - Mary Coleman and Martha (Ralph) Joyner;uncles, cousins; his favorite nieces - Dr. Danita (Reginald) Smith, Kiwanis Scriven, Chloe Scriven, Shameka Scriven, Tafoya Scriven, Sherree Scriven, Tacara Scriven, Jeanitha Hopkins, Keyitha Scriven, Shalena Scriven, Chanel Scriven, Preshus Robinson, Taydrian Scriven, Terieka Scriven, and Angela Powell; nephews - Iran Scriven, Ernest Bernard Scriven, Jr., Derrick Scriven, and Darron Jones; special great nephews Rashaad Hopkins and Jaydon Bunch; special great nieces – LaTisha Hopkins, Iyana Hopkins, and Janyla Cato; a host of great nieces and nephews;and great, great nieces and nephews.
