Obituary

Orenthel “O.J.” James Broughton was born on February 21, 1970, in St. Petersburg, Florida. , and peacefully entered his eternal rest with the Almighty God on March 16, 2025, at 7:00p.m. at Vitas Healthcare Center, Lecanto, Florida.

 Holding  fond memories as the second child of three boys including the late Aaron Broughton. Parents, Father Alfred Broughton Jr. and Mother the late Geraldine Woolfolk. O.J. graduated from Frederick Douglas High School in Atlanta, Georgia. He pursued his love of cooking by attending LeCordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts.

One of his favorite activities, was playing Dominoes with his under the tree buddies, Mr. Clifford, Mr.Key, Bob, and George Fribley to name a few. He also liked bowling with family.  A man of great joy  whom was loved by everyone with a great sense of humor. Lovingly assigning nicknames for some of his friends.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories: A loving Brother, Alfred Broughton III (Heidi Brown) Atlanta, GA; Father Alfred Broughton Jr. (Cassandra- stepmother) St. Petersburg, FL; Sister in law, Jewell Broughton Citrus Springs, FL; Aunts, Barbara Goolsby, Inverness, FL, Maxine Weaver, Crystal River, FL and Dolores Broughton San Diego, CA; Five nieces which include Airis Broughton Atlanta, GA, Shanise Emanuel Tampa, FL,  Areaun, Jordyn, and Jiselle Broughton all of Citrus Springs, Florida; a host of loving Cousins and Sorrowing Friends; Special Friends in St. Petersburg, FL, Atlanta, GA (Tara Brown Ferrell, Dana Glover, Alex Jackson, Nephew, Shazam, Uncle Spook and “Heavy”)
The extended family includes his adopted adult children Blake & Aubri Lawhon, Jeremy Quick and Caliann Rogers; Special Neighbor and friends, Betty Richardson, Celestine Cox, Diane Scriven and Derrick Dapolito.

Funeral Cortege- The Funeral Cortege  will form on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 1:00 pm 312 North Seminole  Avenue Inverness, FL
