Geraldine Louise ‘Mathis”Carr
It is with a heavy heart that we announce that another (Angel) has received her Robe and Wings, Geral, left us with a Legacy that we can pass on, that smile, laughter, Love, and sound when she was praising God, or just having fun will not be forgotten.
Geraldine Louise “Mathis” Carr aka “Pearl” was born July 1, 1956 in Brooksville, FL to Henry and Mary Mathis. She was Known as (Capt.) from her softball days with the Jets. Graduated from Hernando High School in 1974 after which she attended PHCC, She was married by Rev. Proctor of Allen Temple AME to John Everett Carr on January 8 1975 after dating for 5 years.
She left Brooksville in 1975 to travel with (John) to Europe, Ft. Benning,GA. while there she Enlisted in the Army and had Basic training & AIT at Ft. Jackson,SC. Upon graduation she joined the reserves for 6 years. She re-dedicated her Life to Christ at an early age at Church Of God By Faith in Brooksville Florida under the leadership of Elder James Ware. She left such an impact on every one she came in contact with from the military, Hernando County Jail, and our travels in the ministry.
Geral, never met a stranger. We, met Apostle Jeffery Cash in 1987 as we traveled singing in our group (The Family Gospel Singers) and we fell in love and became family. In 1999, we were called to open up Vision Temple Ministries Inc. God has blessed us with 25 plus years in ministry together. Not only did she lead with grace, love and peace, she touched so many lives with kind words, warm heartfelt hugs and of course her angelic sound every time she ministered through her singing. When she sang, she always allowed the holy-spirit have his way and every time God delivered. She will always be loved, cherished as she has made a huge impact and left a massive anointed mark of the hearts of all who met her. If you’ve ever had an encounter with her you were blessed to know what real genuine Godly love feels like through one of his true soldiers. Having her in your life was more than experience. It was indeed a joy and an honor.
She will be deeply missed.
Rest now our beautiful Songbird, job well done!
As she would say, “God’s grace is sufficient.”
