Patricia Hodges Obituary

Obituary for Patricia Lane Hodges
 November 4, 1945 – November 24, 2025

Patricia Lane Hodges, 80, of Homosassa, Florida, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2025. Patricia was born on November 4, 1945, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Eloise Timmons Lane and Clarence H. Lane.

On December 26, 1964, she married the love of her life, John Spencer Hodges, in Chicago, Illinois. Chicago became their home for many years—a place where they built a beautiful life together and raised their family.

Patricia was a remarkably business-savvy woman whose work ethic and determination inspired everyone around her. She served as a tax auditor for the IRS for 26 years before retiring, and she also owned and managed several multi-unit residential buildings throughout Chicago. Her drive, intelligence, and dedication left a lasting mark on all who worked with and learned from her.

After retiring—and following the loss of her beloved husband John in 2013—Patricia moved in with her son Craig and his wife Rebecca, residing in Fishers, IN. Together, they eventually settled in the Homosassa / Brooksville area, returning to the family’s cherished stomping grounds.

To know Patricia was to love her. She possessed an enormous and generous heart, and her selflessness touched countless lives. She gave freely—often offering others her very last—and found joy in food, fellowship, and spending time with the people she loved most. Later in life, her playful, oft-repeated phrase, “I’m sleepy,” brought smiles and laughter to those around her.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents; her baby brother, Alex; and her husband, John.

She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: her son, Craig (Rebecca) Hodges of Homosassa, Florida; her daughter, Kimberly (Malcolm) Munson; her daughter, Ariel Cooper of Chicago, Illinois; nine grandchildren—Malcolm Munson Jr., Nia (Malik) Jones, Kendall Munson, Chimere Munson, Jordan (Sa’Lora) Hodges, Craig Hodges Jr., Andrianna Hodges, Trevor Raddatz, and Amara Patricia Crain; and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several cousins and extended family members.

Patricia was a bright, joyful light in the lives of all who knew her. Feisty, funny, and endlessly loving, she carried a great sense of humor and a deep pride in her family. She made tremendous sacrifices to ensure her children received exceptional educations and opportunities. She enjoyed casino trips, family vacations, and listening to the timeless music of Frank Sinatra and Dave Brubeck.

The world is a little dimmer without Patricia’s warmth and spirit, but her legacy of love, strength, and generosity will continue to shine through the family she adored. May she rest in peace.
