In 1975 he met Sylvia Villard and they were married in 1978 by Reverend Stewart on Josephine Street. They are the proud parents of four daughters.
Sam was a welder in Wisconsin before moving to Spring Hill, Florida, where he started his own painting business called Sam’s Painting. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and shared his expertise in salt water fishing with his nephews and grandsons. He enjoyed watching sports, especially basketball, crossword puzzles, and playing pool.
Sam is survived by his loving wife, Sylvia; five children: Courtney Garner, Sharee Hodge (Anthony), Helen Garner Woods, Jessica Garner, and Chelsea Garner. Grandkids: Samuel Xavier Garner, Taylor Woods, Isaiah Brown, Noah Brown, Courtney Garner Jr, Carrington Garner, Josh Nixon, Joell Goldsmith, Neriah Goldsmith, and Miracle Hodge; a devoted mother-in-law Cornelia Villard and close relatives and friends.
