William Edward Hartley, 72, of Brooksville, FL, sadly left us on August 7, 2024, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Most people just called him “Bill”. He was a beloved husband, brother, father, and grandfather. Bill passed on his legacy through his wife, 3 children, 7 grandchildren, 2 sisters, the hundreds of lives he touched during his career, and all his horse friends.
Hartley, as his coworkers knew him, spent his life saving others as a firefighter and paramedic for 30 years. He retired from doing what he loved with Largo Fire and Rescue Station 42. His voice could be heard on the Sunstar 911 dispatch line, helping people in their time of despair and dispatching help on its way.
Bill passed on love, kindness, and friendship to all he knew. He was full of wisdom. Bill taught everyone something to take with them for the rest of their lives. Everyone you meet that knew Bill has an amazing and funny story to tell about their experiences with him. He spent his life with his family, farm, and with all of his animals ranging from horses, dogs, cats, chickens, and other various animals. Bill was always willing to help those who asked for it. He tried not to ask for help from others as he enjoyed a problem to fix, usually in the "Bill rigged it way."
No one would say Bill lived an extraordinary life, but they would say that he lived a wholesome and happy life. William “Bill” Hartley was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
Celebration of life is being planned and will be announced once plans have been finalized.
